Pros
My thoughts
The Galleria line by Winsor and Newton is intended for beginners and students. The paint has an excellent consistency, is on the thicker side for less expensive paints, and does a fair job of holding the brushstrokes. When dry, it also provides a surface quality that is quite constant.
The colours are fairly vivid and bright for student paints, but they often require a few more layers to completely cover a surface because of their low opacity. The tendency of this paint to clump when diluted with water or mixed is another problem I discovered.
Winsor & Newton's Galeria Acrylic Color is a premium acrylic that offers cost-effective professional effects. It is well-liked by painters all over the world, from novices to seasoned professionals.
Galeria is typically regarded as a paint intended for students. It works well and has fantastic colour strength, but because it's rather soft, you'll need to add texture paste if you want thick paint.
In addition to great colour brightness, high levels of pigment strength, opacity, and durability, strong brush stroke retention, clean colour, and a smooth, satin finish, each of the range's 60 colours offers a wide range of pigment qualities.
Blending
It's so much fun to mix and combine this paint! I love watching ASMR videos on YouTube where people mix paint and create hues I had never idea were even possible. You're losing out if you're not mixing this paint and creating your own hues. The paint mixes wonderfully nicely and is also quite calming. When I did this, I discovered that the paint not only became smoother and more opaque, but also that it slid onto the paper and canvas. You need to combine these hues in order to fully comprehend their variety.
Quick drying
If you aren't using any water in the
mixture, you will need more than one layer of this paint to completely cover
the paper. This paint strongly adheres to your brush and might be difficult to
remove. This is excellent news for the thing you are painting, but it's not so
fantastic for cleaning.
On the canvas tote, the paint applied
less thickly than it did on the mixed-media paper, but it was still more
opaque. This set dried really quickly, in only five minutes, as one would
expect from acrylic paint.
Cons
Created from synthetic pigments meaning the colours can be thinner than Acrylics made from is natural pigments found in a professional range.
Thickness of the paint can be slightly thinner than an expensive, professional range.
Stains clothing, ensure you protect your clothing with an apron or smock.
The shape of the 250 & 500ml lids can cause be difficult to remove if you do not keep the pot threads clean.
